LOUVRE TYPE CONTROL DAMPERS
This proven design is in use in many industries. The frame or case is made by forming channel sections to give integral flanges. This gives strength with minimum weight, coupled with good rigidity. The blades are formed longitudinally for stiffness. These units are normally configured as opposed blade action.
These dampers feature large diameter shafts which are welded to the blades. There is therefore no possibility of the blades becoming detached. The operating levers are keyed to the shafts to guarantee linkage alignment.
The shafts turn in sintered phosphor bronze bushes which can be regarded as zero maintenance. We can also provide PTFE bushes for applications involving food processing or for corrosive environments. For use at elevated temperatures, we fit 4 bolt, self aligning bearings which, together with the linkage, are stood off to allow the unit to be lagged.
The unit illustrated has an electric actuator with a positioner. However, any type of actuator can be supplied, including manual hand wheel, pneumatic and hydraulic.
PLEASE NOTE - this type of damper is not suitable for use as an inlet damper on a fan. The flow pattern immediately downstream of the damper when it is partially open will cause adverse effects.
